Book publishing math & what makes reading worth it.
Seth Godin had an interesting take on traditional book publishing this week. Apparently, by the numbers, most books don’t sell very well. The number of books that only sell one copy is truly astonishing!
Despite the challenges, writing books makes a unique cultural contribution, which adds to the corpus of knowledge, and has the potential to share transformative ideas. Seth’s take is to make books that capture the passion, not to make sales.
